Jackson County Justice: A Public Forum on Law Enforcement
August 15, 2015 @ 11:00 am
“Could something like Ferguson happen here?”
“What training do your officers have in the use of force?”
“Is there data available to the public on use of force incidents in the county?”
“How do you get feedback from the public on the performance of your employees?”
Join us for the first event in a series of public forums designed to strengthen communication between members of the justice system and all members of our communities. Local law enforcement leaders will answer your questions about law enforcement here in Jackson County. Joining us for this session will be:
Jackson County Sheriff Chip Hall
Sylva Police Chief Davis Woodard
Western Carolina University Police Chief Ernie Hudson
We are pleased that they have welcomed this opportunity to hear from the public, and we encourage you to submit your questions ahead of the event and attend on August 15 to hear the answers.
Future events in the Justice series will take place in the fall and spring and will focus on other aspects of the law, including forums with local prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and more. Similar events are also being planned for areas west of Jackson County. For more information about the series, contact legalredress@jacksonncnaacp.org.
