Journey for Justice Begins
August 1, 2015
Event Navigation
Beginning on August 1, 2015, a broad coalition of social justice organizations will join the NAACP on a historic march across the American South to protest legislative attacks on voting rights, and to fight for justice and equality for all.
The 860 mile journey will begin in Alabama, the state that brought the Shelby case to the Supreme Court which struck down a key section of the Voting Rights Act. Over the course of eight weeks, the NAACP will hold a series of demonstrations, teach-ins and training from Selma, Alabama to Washington, DC — through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia to bring attention to the vulnerable communities who are victims of regressive voting rights tactics.
The march is expected to reach North Carolina on August 23–more details will be posted as they are available.
